One of the last self-contained hospital complexes from the previous century in Hamburg, after over 100 years at this site Barmbek General Hospital has moved to a new location. Located in the 14-hectare landscaped grounds are, among others, four former in-patient buildings, which have now been converted into contemporary residential apartments, while making provision for historical preservation. The conversion has produced 52 residential units of varying typology - from multi-storey townhouses to spacious lofts and rooftop penthouses.
