Charles de PicciottoArchitekt BDA

Ulsnis

The design concept intended that the building should be constructed comprehensively from renewable resources of the surrounding cultural landscape of the Schlei; over the years, a natural patina shall develop due to the aging process, creating a unity between nature and building culture. On this basis, the construction and all surfaces were chosen in timber construction, all elements are made of untreated wood both inside and outside. The common goal of the architects and clients was to create a building that over the course of its lifetime increasingly merges with the location, to finally appear as a timeless sculpture made of alluvial wood washed ashore and to merge with the beautiful rough natural landscape.
