Hamburg’s two faculties of architecture have been merged. In future, architecture will be taught at the HCU in Hamburg’s HafenCity district. A competition was held to choose a suitable design for the new university building on the distinctive harbor site. In its ground-plan configuration and building typology, the constructional design mirrors the location on the Elbe and the two merged faculties from the Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) Hamburg and the Hochschule für bildende Künste (Academy of Fine Arts) Hamburg.
