Following the shootings on 04/26/2002, teaching on the premises of the Gutenberg High School in Erfurt was suspended. Solutions were sought for ways of emotionally cleansing the site. In essence, the design proposal addresses the issue of continuity - strengthened by past experience and events, looking towards the future with new courage. This insight was given spatial expression in the new central foyer, with the aim of offering daily sustenance and hope to pupils and teachers.
